Oct 22, 2022 · What year is a 350 Chevy engine with casting 3970010 and 15y146329? The back of the block will have a series of letters and numbers cast into it. That is what determines the date.

Can anyone identify the engine with the following information? I purchased my 55 chevy with this engine and I cannot find what size or anything about this engine. The casting number is 3970010. And on the machined pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head has these stamped onto the pad - 14W200 and a larger stamped ID V 2 on the pad.

Based on the 3998991 heads (1972/1973) I would think it is the 160HP model. So Pretty much LOW compression motor.The casting number is 3970010, and the code stamp/suffix is V0709HV.
