They then changed to lower ratios in the trans, resulting in the 17/42 setup on all later Vulcans, these use the 112 link chains.Check for oil around the spark plug cavity and then explore this further. On the 1500, the service manul says a special tool is need to pull the spark plug tubes, but you can fashion a tool out of the rear axle nut and unscrew the tube. I'd bet the 800 is similar.
