We've cruised to St. Lucia before and decided to avoid the cabs and pressure by walking to Vigi beach, across the runway from the cruise terminal. The walk was relatively short (~1.5m) on sidewalk through a relatively busy section of road. Never felt exposed or uncomfortable as tourists.
